Highball> Flying a Dralthi made me scared of Jalthi for the first time.

JKM> I think most people prefer the Raptor. I think the only real advantage to the Rapier is the lower profile from most angles make it more difficult to hit.

I think most people prefer the Raptor.
Not all people do. In fact, I happened to see an old poll yesterday here on CIC which was asking for the favourite WC1 fighter and there the Rapier even won - barely - before the Raptor.

I've always preferred the Rapier over the Raptor, it's fast, agile, has strong shields (not very good armor though) and a nice complement of weapons.

Although the Raptor is a fine ship as well. A good friend of mine always preferred the Raptor over the Rapier as well (and still does). It also has it's advantages, like much stronger armor and a bigger complement of missiles.

So, speaking of WC1 fighters, who wants to speak up who didn't hate the Scimitars? ;)

It depends on your flying style, on a replay I loved the Scimitar.

Off topic, but tonight I beat Secret Missions 2 for the first time ever! It's the only WC game I have never been able to beat, and these impossible missions has made me an excellent pilot. I even won the Pewter Planet and got to save it. I struggled through the Dralthi/Hornet missions, but when the game finally gave me my Raptor back IT WAS ON!

"RAMMING SPEED!"

necro but,
for anyone trying to beat this mission, I've found out that
you can afterburn yourself to the 1st ambush, meeting the 5 enemies before escorted ship arrives...

Then go behind them, firing one - or two of them as they go by you to reach the escorted ship /their target
TO DIE in a big explosion, probably because the spawned early enough for the escorted ship to still be in the vicinity of the Claw when they rech it !

Probably Claw destroys them (any 3 or 4 survived your initial attack that is !!!)

This makes it a bit easier to continue (less damage on your ship, your wingman's and your escorted ship)

Try it yourself !!

(WingLoader and Voice mod installed on GOG version of the game)

I only have the invincibility cheat on, i did not use any "destroy ship / ships" command, as far as i know it is unavailable in this configuration !!

Don't mind me shooting to space, it's just to show they completely ignore you and go for their target..
(or - maybe - i am really bad at it 😅)
plus i lowered frames to match the Amiga 500 version (and Amiga emu) framerate i was used to play at

WingLoader uses the KilrathiSaga version of WC1 and WC2, so you can activate the legacy cheats in a couple of ways:
1) if there's a Cheater DWORD set to 1 in the registry at Software\\Origin Systems\\WC: Kilrathi Saga
2) if there's a wingcmdr.cfg or wc2.cfg - that contains $#SAGA.EXE -b -k
These are both the same as if you just called dos WC from the command line with Origin -k -b
The wc2.cfg also supports -c -f -q for disabling the cockpit, showing the framerate and enabling Mode X respectively (which with Windows 10 means that it runs in a tiny corner of the screen as that's bugged in newer windows).

Or you can use WCAT and the dosbox based version of wingloader i worked on (some advantages, and some disadvantages).
