I am aware of what VLC player is, and as far as integration with codecs tend to go, VLC makes rules of its own... WinDVD adds it's codecs to WMP that makes things go from there. Good to hear you resolved your issue.

Can you play the movie files outside of WCP using windows media player or WinDVD?

Fine with me.. mind you, my VPN is always running, and the IP will remain until I switch providers.... You, and others can send me a request in a PM for a login certificate, and you can connect whenever you want. I have recources to spare so i can keep a virtual dedicated server running for you...

Very impressive, but I still have to ask the eternal question... ... multiplayer?

Just voted, at 78 votes now.

I have a gameranger account and tried to host a game there together with a buddy, but no-one came, and there was some strange lag and we lost connection a few times. Same problem as Wing Commander Arena; there is simply no-one around to play with. This was circumvented by me setting up a VPN...

The direct3d version used limits the game to 1280x1024(and even that you have to manually edit into the config file). If you switch to software rendering you can pretty much run any resolution you want, but the ships will not look as nice... The nebula effect is also gone, AFAIK it used a...

So not point and click to move your character around, but more firstperson? Do you only see your character in the intro or when you die?

I bought the game when it appeared on Xboxlive, about on releaseday. The kill I made then was the enemy ace in a ME262, single-shot. I recall the game came up with a cutscene afterwards, giving you the idea that you were up for the fight of your life, but he was already dead, and so there i was...

Achievements in general are made in a way that everybody can reach them. Wing commander 2 and 3 have flukes, such as the bad guys shooting eachother or even flying into eachother. If this happens, you are just damn lucky. The weirdest achievement I ever made on the xbox was in Dogfight:1942...

I think Quacker2k8 means that he actually accomplished something nigh-impossible in the game, or something that was not intended but possible, or even a bug, and that was fun for him. If there was an achievement for this, the expierence is not unique, and less fun(to me). Making achievements...

I use multi-monitor setups, but i found in the two machines of myself I tested it on, disabling the second and third monitor does not matter. I have played it on Windows7 x64, in 1280x1024, and Windows8 x64, in 1366x768(Both AMD graphics, I can switch the windows8 machine(laptop) to intel...

I found the "crude" movement to be annoying, the original dos version responded better. Tailing and aiming your guns at distance is bothersome then. I always get red of whatever profiler software I encounter, and set everything up using "joy.cpl". you can use joy2key for the more exotic...

I found something I could replicate twice on different systems. Joystick and mouse go randomly do their own way. Some screens the X-axis is off by a random distance when you try to find a hotspots in a room, then log on to the mission computer and afterwards it behaves normally, but in flight...

The omega drivers suite was done by a single person who tweaked the latest official drivers for both Nvidia and AMD, like the "rage underground" group did for ATi cards late 90's/early 2000's. Omega drivers made itself a household name, like 3dguru or 3dfxfiles back in the day. From what I...

@Luke AMD has actually been using the term "AMD Catalyst Omega Software Suite " for a while now. Google it, and You'll find it on top. Omegadrivers.net is still up, but he just links to current nvidia and AMD/ATi releases these days....

Farkleyrtarg is using a 4000 series. There are drivers with a late 2014 build, released as beta, but only 32-bits, so invalid for his operating system. Some years back we could always use the omega drivers to get a bit more performance out of your card(either ATi/AMD or Nvidia, but the guy had...

All those issues van be adressed too, but you need to dive deep into the configuration with tools like MSI afterburner. Not everybody wants to spent the time figuring all those settings out, but just play the game.

Most issues arise with ATI used on "exotic cards"; I had issues with: - ATI All-in-wonder 128 AGP 64mb (Desktop leaking through games, could not be resolved) - ATI Rage Fury MAXX(performance was crippled in windows 2000 and later) - Asus ATI AH340 512mb AGP(OpenGL games would cause crashes...

Next up, does the Kilrathi go up or down the stairs?
