Forbes Explores Star Citizen History (May 4, 2019)

Well, I kinda do :). I do genuinely think Chris Roberts has stuck pretty close to the original pitch. Granted, there are many things that are much more detailed than the original pitch indicated - but then again, the original pitch doesn't spell out point by point how each feature will look. It...

Is it possible that the confederation could have won the kilrathi war after the Battle of Earth without the Temblor Bomb or Behemoth

You remember correctly. WC1 had a higher limit - IIRC, 32 ships, though maybe it was 24. There was a couple of missions in SM1 or SM2, where just the kill count of the enemy fighters could be higher than 20, so I think the limit had to be 32. The question of why WC2 could handle fewer ships...

Is it possible that the confederation could have won the kilrathi war after the Battle of Earth without the Temblor Bomb or Behemoth

WC2 definitely did not have more ships. @-danr- mentioned that there's a limit of ten ships per navpoint in WC3. Well, I don't recall if WC2 had any sort of limit of ships per navpoint, but it had a limit of 16 ships per mission. Of those, only 10-12 were generally usable - you had to take into...

But this is exactly what I'm telling people - to do a reality check. Look at what you just wrote - your expectations were pure romanticism and completely unrealistic. You didn't listen to Chris Roberts' pitch, instead you imagined him promising you another WC game. Well, I'm pointing out that...

Forbes Explores Star Citizen History (May 4, 2019)

See, this is exactly what I'm getting at - people criticise feature creep in Star Citizen, but they don't remember what the original features were. Star Citizen *always* promised a first-person element. That ain't feature creep :).

Wing Commander Prophecy: Secret Ops Model Update Pack

A great start! And yes, I do say "a great start" because, after all, those collision shape limitations you mention mean that ultimately, it only goes a step further than what WCP did originally. But hey, it's still cool! I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to do something else instead: namely...

Forbes Explores Star Citizen History (May 4, 2019)

I actually dug up an email I wrote to someone straight after I watched the Star Citizen announcement, when I was venting my disappointment with the whole thing. Now, here's the thing. I believe that many people at the time filtered the announcement through the prism of Chris Roberts' career...

Forbes Explores Star Citizen History (May 4, 2019)

The trouble with Star Citizen and Chris Roberts, though, is that he's doing *exactly* what he promised originally: he's working on a game that contains everything but the kitchen sink. No, scratch that - the whole premise is that even the kitchen sink is included. This premise, frankly, was...

You know, I think of all the new characters Forstchen created or developed, Jukaga is the only one I find genuinely interesting. I don't like what he did with Tolwyn, I find his Bear ridiculous, and the background politicians he makes up are utter jokes. But Jukaga - man, that's a great...

    Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Trailer

You forgot a few details. Since Blair was called Maverick, and since there'd been talk of a Top Gun sequel/remake for years, the producers decide to kill two birds with one stone. Riffing off the "Danger Zone" soundtrack, they bring in Kelly McGillis as Blair's civilian flight instructor...

Wow! I was like… nah, I don't care enough to bother watching, but... meh, I guess I'll have a look… and wow! Wow! That has got to be the worst thing I've seen so far this year. It's horrifyingly terrible, it feels like every scene just takes the cringe up another notch. Really, it looks so...

Well, with the DLL patches, it's possible to add more gun types beyond what the game originally had, and it's possible to add more ship types than the game originally had, and it's possible to add more ship types in the sim. So, you know, it certainly wouldn't hurt to add the Bearcat to the sim...

I'm going to chime in on the patriotism thing as well, because frankly, it's ridiculous and silly as heck. Patriotism is loving your country and nation. Well, with regards to the Kilrathi ships you and @Pedro mentioned, I suppose I should have specified - I mean Confed ships :). Yeah, it's a lovely Excalibur. Of course, the Excalibur always had it easy - as the only not-ugly ship in WC3, it wins any WC3 beauty contest by default.
