    Moving to Alaska

What a lovely gesture! At the risk of going off topic, if you're moving to Alaska you should definitely look at playing the survival game The Long Dark ...although I dare say it may put you off moving someplace cold.

FAO: Europe and the rest of the world.

The situation is so complicated, it just seems that after decades of violence between two (very committed) factions that a number of the northerners would be aggrieved if as a result of Brexit they found themselves part of Ireland. That said, there are plenty of moderates in NI who advocate...

FAO: Europe and the rest of the world.

I'm sorry but that is absolutely wrong. Look into Northern Irish loyalism; the divide between Republican Catholics and Northern Protestants goes far deeper than any British meddling. You can bet your house that Northern Ireland will stay in the UK regardless, the possibility of them joining ROI...

FAO: Europe and the rest of the world.

I think I heard a snippet on the news yesterday saying that the refugee camp will remain in place for the forseeable future. Meanwhile, the EU has said we can't access the free market unless we allow free movement of EU citizens in and out of the UK.

Help A Wingnut, Get Cool Art (June 28, 2016)

All the best Ninja, and I sincerely hope you're ok. As it happens I'm currently in the middle of a personal financial meltdown too; but in a few weeks I'll see if I can't pitch in - always loved your work.

FAO: Europe and the rest of the world.

There are too many well written posts here, and I don't particularly feel like quoting paragraphs en-masse and replying in essay form. However, I will attempt (as briefly as I can) to draw a line under my involvement in this thread by trying to justify my 'leave' stance in the interest of...

FAO: Europe and the rest of the world.

Yeah, shielding ourselves from further Eurozone meltdown is a plus - although in the short term, we'll be having plenty of meltdowns of our own.

FAO: Europe and the rest of the world.

:D You're all heart. Great post. Although I'd argue Labour aren't exactly outright socialists even now under the dinosaur 70s socialist throwback Corbyn - who, incidentally, vocally opposed the EEC in decades gone by. When he was appointed leader, there was a minor revolt within the party...

So...5.30am here and it's pretty much settled that we're leaving the EU. What do you all make of it? Are we crazy? Are you jealous?

    Non functioning motherboard/new build advice

It's dead, I can't get it working. As a last ditch I've sent it for a free assessment and repair quote, anything more than £70 and I'm selling it as faulty.

    Non functioning motherboard/new build advice

Thanks guys, unfortunately I'm a bloody idiot - I bought the board from a guy on Gumtree who insisted on bank transfer - he seemed legit enough, sent me lots of pictures of the board, dated with post-it notes. Should have set alarm bells ringing that he claimed "not to use PayPal" - now he's not...

    Non functioning motherboard/new build advice

^ As you can see, there's also some old thermal paste next to the socket, a good amount of dust, and I even found hairs in amongst the pins. So much for "BARGAIN, NEVER USED"

    Non functioning motherboard/new build advice

Thanks for all the advice and to @capi3101 's friends for chiming in. I've now tried three power supplies, all with identical results ~ the original PSU I was using *should* have been pretty reliable given that it's only 6 months old and is a Platinum SeaSonic, but as has been said - these...

    Non functioning motherboard/new build advice

Much appreciated good sir. I think you're probably right, although some have said it may be something as simple as a BIOS issue.

    Non functioning motherboard/new build advice

Also should point out: All of these components are used, I know the PSU, RAM and GPU are good as they're mine and are working fine on other machines. The motherboard and processor however are secondhand and I haven't got another x79/2011 to test them.

    Bad movie going experiences

Yes, actually you're right - I think is the chips/crips that are loudest, and I'm certain there are some that eat them with their mouths wide open!

    Non functioning motherboard/new build advice

I know the CIC isn't the first place on the list for asking about tech problems; but I've reached my wit's end. I've made threads on overclock.net and on Tom's Hardware and nobody seems to be able to offer up any advice. Since I've had good PC advice from you guys before, I thought I'd give it...

    Bad movie going experiences

Does anybody else find eating sounds annoying? I know that having popcorn at the cinema is tradition and maybe I'm turning into a moaning old man, but I sometimes feel when watching a multi-million pound blockbuster that the audio score wasn't designed to have a constant overlay of slurping and...

WC3 Test Footage Gives Early Glimpse At Heart Of The Tiger (June 11, 2016)

I had a feeling this might be the case, and we'll never know who the Major might have been now. I always thought Origin missed a trick by not drafting in Patsy Kensit to play Major Edmond... ...but I guess she went down with the rest of them just off the Stendal Mistral coast, and Rollins did...

WC3 Test Footage Gives Early Glimpse At Heart Of The Tiger (June 11, 2016)

Does this mean there were plans at some point that Paladin would only be a Major by WC3? Seems strange, the idea of him calling Blair 'sir'.
