Have to try that some time. Today I did it. It took few days short of 15 years for me, but I finally beat Gauntlet. On Broadsword, with Hobbes. And it was once again damn close, too. In the last battle, when there were three or four enemies left, I took two hits on shield generator. Shields...

It's been a while since I last played Special Operations (before just now) so my memory may play tricks, but I remember that the Mandarin Sabres have previously been like a Morningstar with Sabre graphics (3 particle cannons). Now they had the Sabre's 2 particle cannons (wider than MS 3), but...

I wish Academy would've at least had all ships of WC2, it would've been fun to put Concordia and other carriers against several fralthras. Can't say I've played Academy much otherwise, the Gauntlet just haunts me as one great challenge.

To answer my original question: I edited the game to have level 15 as level 1 and tried few times with all ships with and without wingman how they'd do. It still seems Broardsword with a wingman is the best option, but Sabre without did pretty well too. For some reason Rapier also works well...

I've looked into this further and here's some information for anyone interested. List of the Academy gauntlet enemies: Number of enemies/type/difficulty Level 1 Wave 1 1/Sartha/1 Wave 2 1/Drakhri/1 Wave 3 1/Jrathek/1 Level 2 Wave 1 2/Sartha/1 Wave 2 2/Drakhri/1 Wave 3 2/Jalkehi/1 Level 3...

No, there's nothing that needs torpedoes. I've actually been thinking of editing the gauntlet to a version where you'd have big ships and bases to torpedo. I could do it, if I can find my old notes from years back... Ferret isn't very good for me as I tend to collide enemies with it. I don't...

Who has finished WC Academy gauntlet and on Broadsword or any other ship? You see, I've been trying 15 years and never have. 7 or 8 times I've died in 15-3, dozens more in 15-1 or 15-2 - always with Broadsword, of the other ships my best result is to 14-1 with Sabre. What I really want to know...

That and the other one with two fralthra (which comes if you fail that, I think?) are the worst anywhere in WC1&2. I love the one where you go after transports with Bossman (Kurasawa 1?), not that you'd expect it to be very hard, though few missions have that many enemies.

I've seen plenty of times Trakhath/Blair/someone else mixed in that one point and sometimes Edmond with wrong body (but not naked). I recall sometimes there's no character at all, just empty background talking. I think most often I get Blair talking to himself.

1. WC1 (first I played and still fav, plus the "wide" mission chart is better than the more linear ones) 2. SO1 (moral dilemma of Gettysburg, the Kilrathi imperial family) 3. SO2 (mace) 4. P1:RF 5. P1 6. SM2 7. SM1 8. WC2 9. P2 10. SO 11. WCP 12. WC3 13. Academy 14. Armada

I recently watched Blue Thunder, which has Malcolm McDowell and Jason Bernard, and I was wondering what other movies have two or more of WC cast? Or one of the less famous actors in interesting roles.

I'm replaying UE and only now found out you can get B ending even from 10A by losing the Fralthi there.

I didn't feel much storywise, more as and end to a gaming effort (as I's played 1/SMs/2/SOs/Priv/RF so many times before that). I only got WC3 2000, so I'm pretty sure I had heard what happens. Nevertheless, I think the presentation sort of lacks pathos, for an ending to trilogy+Priv+5 mission...

WC1 is still my favorite, for gameplay and structure. SO1 has the best story. I generally prefer 1/2/Priv to 3/4. Prophecy was great as a game (SO in some ways even better), but not that good in story and feeling.

I'm just playing WC3 again and I like it less than before. It lacks the playability that made 1&2 enjoyable, at least Prophecy has some of that. In Prophecy/SO the huge numbers of enemies are OK since you have dozen friends out there, but it's stupid to make missions long by adding wave after...

I faintly remember having read something like this years ago. I think some FAQ/walkthrough warned about this; I'll have to dig around.

Hard to say... but it begins with A. Can't say about Arena since I haven't played it. I'm tempted to choose Academy, but because of playability I say Armada.

I've sometimes had gameposters (from certain old magazines) on living room wall for months or maybe even years. Including: Shadowlands, Secret of the Silver Blades (you've got to admit that's some awesome cover art) and Wonderland (as in "Alice in"; old text adventure). And above my bed I...

I would've preferred new versions of old fighters more often, like WC2 Rapier (despite that particular ship being so bad). I like Ferret, it's a mix of good things of Hornet and Scimitar and it's also different anough from all other WC1/2 ships (well except Epee maybe, but at least it's very...

Damn, I think I've never done that. Got to remember next time I play.
