Yeah, The PS/2 used Micro Channel Architecture (MCA). It was good - very advanced for the time (while everyone was using 8 or 16 bit ISA, MCA had 32 bits), but as everyone hated, highly proprietary and to develop for MCA required paying $$$ to IBM. Of course, no one made any cards - why pay IBM...

During the early 90s, there were plenty of sound cards, dozens or more of them all vying for marketshare. Most of them died out because they just were too small to get much support and sound blasters became the de-facto standard. So not being able to find specifics on your card isn't all too...

I think you mean a "DAC" for the speech. AdLib, SoundBlaster had a Yamaha YM-OPL chip which was used to produce music... via FM synthesis. SoundBlaster basically had the OPL chip wired the same way as the AdLib, giving it full AdLib compatibility simply because it was the same circuit. I'm...

Well, get those chips covered ASAP, and maybe there's still something that can be read out...

Better cover up those EPROM windows with dark tape ASAP. While you usually use an eraser to erase them in 20 minutes, normal sunlight will erase them over a span of a day or so. And unless the cover was on them who knows how long they've been exposed - even uncovered they may have slowly erased...

I'm no classical music fan. In fact, for the most part, I usually detest it (usually they're just stuffy formal attire events). Which is ironic since I love orchestral music, especially soundtracks (movie scores and videogames) - they are my favorite kind of music. I So I've been to many...

^^^^ that's the reason. I check 2 more games on the list I don't have and the price drops from $2.39 to 89 cents.

I was logged in. I know that because it shows up in my "Already Purchased" column. If I select them (to gift to a friend say), it wants just under $20 for the entire collection.

I think they fixed it, because it's back to $2.39 each now.

Are you trying via Kickstarter or his email directly? I have had no problems communicating via direct email when he offered the CDs for sale on his web site.

The basic underlying technology is autostereoscopy, which is a fancy word for saying the screen produces views depending on the angle you view it. Similar to the Nintendo 3DS, there is a special optical film placed over a screen that redirects light. Now. unlike the Nintendo 3DS, the technology...

Hrm, I saw it in Barco today and thought it was quite good - the colors were matched and everything. It's possible maybe your theatre's lost its calibration? The only bad thing I would say is the three screens were disjointed - there was a black seam between them, so the shots weren't that...

Especially iin the ultra wide Barco format?

My major peeve is theatres with poor sound - usually too much bass and completely unbalanced. I sort of grew used to paying for the premium shows - the ones with high end audio, IMAX, D-Box, etc. Because these theatres are required to calibrate their audio systems to a specified level -...

The only concern with necro posting is that a lot of readers may not realize it's an old thread so readers may get through and not realize the topic was from 5+ years ago. before replying to a really old post. It's a bigger problem on forums where the post date isn't as obvious as it could be.

The way to do it is to release a tool that will rip the right parts of the CD and then patch the game. So you run the program and insert your CD (or point it to the digital download) and the tool patches the files. You don't distribute the patched file, you distribute the tool itself.

Well, the most groundbreaking part of the story was Gordon Freeman never talks, and never makes an appearance on screen. There is no time he comes running out to shoot something or hit something, and all the characters talk to you, but never in a way that requires a reply. It also was a time...

Well, my autographed copy arrived today (I ordered international off the website) - looks very nice. Thanks!

I got in contact with George - I got the download links from him and he said the CD is on its way.

Thanks, I'll get in touch with him.
