So what are the files I need now :P (this thread is at best confusing!)

This sounds like the sort of thing that "files=30" in the config.sys would have fixed in real dos...

Awe man! I've been away for a week and not had a chance to record an audition :( was going to do it this evening! Oh well, fingers crossed this is the last hurdle before release :)

So in short, run the installer with cycles of around 7000, set ems=false and make sure you're running the wc4demo from folder mounted in dosbox as C:\wc4demo\

Fantastic stuff :) Is this for any particular project or just for funsies?

So it seems that the flaw in running it in dosbox is not 64bit specific; just an issue with the way dosbox supports dpmi (syndicate also has this problem) basically, you just need to stick a little exe in there to 'fix er up'! (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CWSDPMI and here...

Really dosbox doesn't solve it? - thats something really bizarre, i'll have a check later on (in my xp boot now) but that seems like the very thing dosbox is designed TO do!

Huh, I never realised that dos suffered from such an obvious glitch! - still nice you got that solved :D

If you have 7 pro you might be able to use the xp mode? or use virtualpc (or virtualbox) to run xp inside win7 and run it that way.

your p66 showed none of the might that my 486 did :P I had to play it on my parents p200 pro :D

why not just use cputype auto? anyway, loadfix uses up some of the memory - as you may know, dos had a low memory limit of 640kb, but it was almost impossible to get such a high value free (mouse drivers, cd driver etc etc), anyway a lot of games have problems when dosbox gives them all...

The installer asks if you want digital speech turned on as i recall. if not, use "loadfix 16" a couple of times to eat up some memory, when it gets too low WC2 will stop trying to play speech (however, it may have other effects :P)

you could use something like xpadder to do that for you :)

it's conceivable that the game doesn't like the cd's being drive g - if you mount a single image to d what happens, what if you mount the image in daemon tools or magiciso/nero's mounting tools then mount that 'drive' in dosbox (mount the iso in daemon tools to a "fake" dvd drive E: then in...

hmm, i had no problems on my pavilion - can you check another game and that you're mounting drives etc correctly.

okay: is this definitely the dos version not from kilrathi saga? can you post your dosbox.conf can you post the contents of the file in your wc install folder called "wingcmdr.cfg" I suspect either: ems or xms is not enabled and thus wc can't get the memory for the music or the...

Oopsie - double checked and you're right, I got it backwards! It is a tad unstable, and quicktime 2 was as far as I went (and frankly that breaks the sound compared to the quicktime bundled in os7 despite it being recommended) But yeah, basilisk was somewhat better on pc, but both were a...

Not only that, but definitely SWC has the same, if you finish the afterburner fuel, you're stuck with a 50 kps cruising velocity. Not sure if WC1 has the same though.

Phew I'm glad you cleared that up - I'd assumed that teleportation was just as unrealistic as piercing space time and making wormholes! ... ;)

not too seriously wedge :D Actually seether here reminds me of wc1 iceman - possibly crossed with blair a little.
