It's like forcing a man to choose between his kids, dammit!

Assuming you can find the modeller willing to sell you all that blood, sweat and tears when they're done with it. I certainly wouldn't :D

    F-103 Excalibur Model

That they are. Building a model that looks exactly like Klavs's render would certainly be time well spent.

    F-103 Excalibur Model

Is that Klavs' model or the WC Saga one? There are a couple of minor details I disagree with in comparison to the WC3 Warbirds drawings, but overall it's very good.

So yes, whatever you do, don't use the in-game 3D model as your reference. It is primitive at best, contains only flat surfaces instead of curves, and also does not give you accurate measurements. I eventually gave up trying to use it when building my Hellcat, and stuck only to detailed drawings...

So this is just a mockup? I assume you're planning a subsequent build with different materials then?

Great to see you've gotten back to this! So foam board plus cardboard?

Who else is blown away by Star Citizen's presentation?

Same here. Of course, us WC old timers might be a touch biased... Either way, I'm super excited about what's coming. Can't wait for that revamped Aurora!

Does the Hurricane look familiar to anyone...?

Just for the official response: I asked Ben about it on chat over at CIG, and he says the resemblance is coincidental. The concept artist wasn't familiar with the Scimitar at all. Go figure!

Does the Hurricane look familiar to anyone...?

Hey wingnuts! Am I imagining things, or is there a little bit of a family resemblance there...? @Bandit LOAF , coincidence? I think not...

That Rapier is a thing of such beauty... I'm super tempted to build one.

What new features would you want in a hypothetical modern Wing Commander remake?

It's not so hypothetical anymore... Log onto twitch.tv/starcitizen in about 2.5 hours from now to get a glimpse of Wing Commander for the 21st century. Squadron 42 is what Wing Commander would be if Chris Roberts remade it now. Which he is, in all but name.

As cool as the Gamescom demo was, it hasn't convinced all the detractors. We'll see if the Citizencon SQ42 demo plus updated v3.0 stuff will deliver the goods. I'm very excited.

Star Citizen reaches 1.5M Backers, $120M Funding

I read through it last week. It's a surprisingly unbiased and honest article, considering how poorly researched or one-sided gaming reports tend to be. Interesting peek behind the curtain of making something as ambitious as Star Citizen.

Happy Birthday Wing Commander 2! (September 4, 2016)

Chris, you practically wrote my childhood story verbatim in that post! WC2 was my first Wing Commander game as well. It's hard to describe the impact it had on me, but suffice it to say it was one of the most influential games I ever played. Along with Strike Commander, this is what got me...
