I really don't understand the use of this new categorization. Yes, the old ones were faulty, and either de-classified Pluto or classified everything spherical including Earth's moon - but the new one ist not much better, mere window-dressing. For the former transjovian bodies we now have the...

EA waits for the right moment to reactivate the label. It's like Volkswagen - they didn't build a Beetle for almost 20 years, then they launched the "New Beetle" - and although it was totally different from its namesake, the younger generations liked it.

To go contrary: I don't like Forstchen very much. He's a good craftsman, but his characters become somewhat alike if you read several of the novels, and his penchant for graphic violence is a bit too overdone for my taste: The infamous ejector-seat-release-inside-the-hangar scene still makes me...

Hmmm, I also have my doubts about you current storyline. It has a good main idea, but some of the details need fine tuning. Let's take it together: The "surprise attack" idea is always nice, but as it really is a staple for war fiction, it needs to be explained right. What is the real...

Interesting interpretations - I wonder if DeadlyDa has modeled them himself, since he doesn't list the references in his credits. Very pretty though - just a shame that X3 really is not my piece of cake.

I always like that moment when hardy and grizzled pilots step down from their machines and share cat pictures... Anyway, here's Mishka, who's a PC whiz; and Tom, who has this evil overlord thing going.

Hudson, that's a valiant effort - but sadly I can only understand & guess some of your English... Let me summarize what I've understood: - You want to create a set of rules first, so that the people have a better idea what to propose (pictures / cards /...) - Your understanding of P2 is that...

Now, to pick up the argument: Chris is right in saying that P2 isn't totally unrelated to the rest of WC. Yes, it's in a far corner, and it's 110 years after Prophecy. But it's still the same culture, the same history. So we can assume that none of the characters we've known from the WC...

I've been offline over the weekend, time to catch up... First, Hudson's post, which foreshadowed some of the later discussion, but was unfortunately in German: So, that's for Hudson. I'll comment on that, but in a different post.

Ooops, jumped clear over that line. But yesterday wasn't the best day anyway. Okay, missing sentence from the back covers: Since we're at it, this sentence shows the difficulties of translating: The literal meaning would have been "you need to turn to evil to achieve good", which works in a...

This warrants attention of you guys out there - so let's translate... I'm not really content with this translation, but I won't polish it more - for matters of discussion I think it gets the point across.

Wow [feeling extremely honored] - Thanks!

In light of the historical discussion I'd like to go back to the original question: Should the Concordia have been reclassified (even if this were possible under protocol)? I think not. The original HMS Dreadnought was the fear of its opponents for sheer technical advancement, but not for long...

[Sometimes it feels like talking with yourself. But here we go, translation first, my answer next] Okay, Hudson, thanks for the details - I was just wondering if we'd acidentally reinvent the wheel (twice). [Okay Hudson, hatte mich nur gewundert ob wir nicht versehentlich das Rad neu...

You're certainly right here, due to my sloppy syntax: I meant that the HMS Dreadnought was the first battleship in the British navy to simultaneously use steam turbines and the turret-only configuration. And that only as far my humble knowledge of military history goes, based on a tour through...

And even a post of my own (translating myself in a moment): Hudson, I don't know if you're aware that there is a Wing Commander Card Game. I think it was not very popular in Germany, so it might have passed you attention. You can find information about it here: www.wcnews.com/wcccg While it...

Translating never stops:

Translation Addicts Anonymous taking over:

The "dreadnought"-designation is always a tricky one - there just is no objective structural or tactical criterion for any (existing) vessel to be classified as a dreadnaught. As far as I know it's the same for Wing Commander. Dreadnoughts take their name from a historical ship, and most often...
