Gotta say I enjoyed the new V. Sci-fi audiences today are generally an intelligent bunch and I think it's impossible to paper over a lot of holes like the minor ones you point out about V, without ruining where the show is trying to go. Story is more important than whether you can hear lasers in...

I read a book by Alan Dean Foster once, in which the massive war that had been raging through the galaxy, only took place on planets. There was no space war at all because technology had reached such a point that the cap ships would wipe eachother out in a matter of seconds, without even seeing...

You're right, it is a preference. You wouldn't believe the trouble I have explaining to people that it's okay that people like different things and that is FINE and they don't need to be told that they are wrong!! As for that actual subject, I played both intros (from youtube) and found that...

Nice. Better than soundblaster. Still not as good as the Amiga music, in my opinion. Good work though :)

Interesting reading and I'll try and heed what you've said. I've aleady taken a leaf out of KAT's viper combat training "JOJO fired to early and that's what gets him killed. You gotta fill the windscreen with the sonofabitch or you're not going to hit him" I've taken a break for tonight after...

I have been meaning to play it for ages, but due to several reasons (some valid, some lazy and some just made up) I never had. Now admittedly I hardly play combat sims anymore (due to above reasons), but ffaaarrrrrrk it is hard!! I've died atlead 10 times and I'm only on mission 4. Woe...

Wing Commander 1, without a shadow of a doubt. A lot of it is to do with nostalgia, remembering how amazing it was when I discovered it on my Amiga, but I could play that game forever.

In an odd coincidence, that was the year that I ran out of care completely

You think that's bad, I ejected from my rapier only to get arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and not swapping insurance details.

I always felt the brown flight juackets in WC1 was inspired by the original Battlestar Galactica. The launch tube thing aswell, now I think about it.

I haven't looked into that, but I would assume that the WC2 files work in a similar way, so that could be something to look at once this is done.

Hey man. I used to FRED, way back when. Would need to refresh my skills with it and adjust to the differences (if any) in FRED2. I never really did any 3d work. Learnt some Maya, but just never got into that, so probably can't help there. I do do writing and script writing and all that jazz...

Well, well. I go away for a while to do mortgages, weddings and all that pesky life stuff and I come back to find that this made the CIC front page! Cor blimey, eh guv? Well that being the case,I should say something about the project. It is and has been on hold for all of the reasons mentioned...

Ah, I thought you'd abandoned this. Nice to see you haven't. I've a quick question for you... When deconstructing the campaign/mission/briefing did you ever come across anything which signified they type of mission it was? Like escort or indeed what you were escorting? I imagine this has to be...

Hmmm, this is all a bit mad isn't it? The only thing I'll comment on (not Arena that's for sure, as I've never owned an Xbox in my life) is the use of the term rip-off. While true for some games I really think others don't deserve the tag. I can completely understand LOAF not liking some...

I know that on the face of it, a callsign is not all that important, but I would honestly be furious if they took that away from me.

I've just installed Prophecy and the update packs for the first time. I'm using a MS Sidewinder Forcefeedback 2 joystick in Win7. The software for mapping buttons doesn't work in WIN7, but I have found some 3rd party software. My problem is that Prophecy assigns certain actions to some...

There's a mission selector? Everyday I think I know lots about WC and everyday this site makes me look like a chump! :D

Nice! Still doesn't explain why he's only a 2nd Lt. Odd.

I'm confused to how he doesn't die from that head-on collision with the asteroid at full afterburner. Also, 2nd LT? Surely you've gotten a promotion before Kurasawa, no?
