WC:CD Screenshot Dump

So for everyone who wants to see the actual ships from the mod so far in the vision engine....Here ya go.... There are no capships yet....and also I didn't do any Nephilim Screenshots (I have done the Nephilim Ships tho) I've just run outta time and have togo to work....I'll post up Some of the Nephilim tomorrow. The Shots were taken on a laptop which takes dark shots so I had to lighten all the shots and also note these were taken using HCIs High Res (Direct 3d) patch. Enjoy so far....You can see what the fighters have for gun armaments.

Nah I figured in not naming things on ships....then I'm stuck....with that being strickly the "Yellow Hearts" even if it's not the "Yellow Hearts Squadron" ya follow. Like I can't exactly call the Vendetta Pirate ships....a certain squadron name....I have to keep them generic. Same with the Firekkans....Do I really know if they even fly in squads? who knows...So I gotta keep em generic. I can have a few different colors to be a lil different but ...no squad insigs sorry

I do have to say the the most fun fighters to fly are oddly enough.. The Arrow(You can "Almost" run circles around fighters) <Until you run outta missiles then it gets tough>, The Broadsword (It's a tank), Wyvern (It's great as a gauntlet fighter)

Nice work! You need to talk to Alex and Pete about adapting the OpenGL patch to your project soon, though, because, to be honest, those screenshots look horridly awful .

Just one question - are those engine flames from Standoff? If yes, I hope you asked Eder for permission (or at least changed the textures).

Yea I usually play in the OpenGL at 1600x1200, but I'm not able to take the screenshots and I didn't really have the time to do the hex editing that he showed to be able to take the screenshots...So I was like ehh whatev I'll just take them with Hcl's Direct 3d patch.... But I do agree that they don't look all that pretty, it's strange on the laptop when I take the shots they look great then I bring them over to the desktop n I'm like "WTF Happened?" bwahah, So I had to edit the brightness on them which you can tell just by looking at the "Reaper" text.

The blue ones are from Standoff and no I didn't ask permission (I'm still in the process of changing the textures)...The Yellow ones are using the sti_aft shape....but with a texture I made... I'll probably be making some red ones for Kilrathi ships...Some Yellow and different hue blue ones for Terran ships....I am using the Standoff shapes tho... Hope you guys don't mind. And if you do mind...then I can easily just revert back to SO shapes... Either way I could care less I just thought it would be nice to give an ode to whomever made those flames..Roc On !

Yep, I don't think Eder will mind at all about the cones. In all likelihood, he probably wouldn't even care about you using the textures for these things (they aren't really comparable to ship textures in complexity), but if you want to do that, it would be only polite to ask.

I do my own texture 24 bit for the burner....which is similar to Eders but pretty much different color hues...then I make an alpha (8 bit b/w) then... I use Bmp2mat...but it comes out looking like the Cloaked Afterburner that the Standoff Sartha has for some reason....What am I missing anyone know?

If you're refering to my little article on how we did our dll patches, it was only to make new screenshots to not overwrite existing ones; you should not need any special tweek to take screenshots in OpenGL mode.

Yea I have an older Nvidia card on both my laptop and desktop it's a 5500 gt (I think) on these comps...Even tho the drivers are updated...they won't take the screenshots at all.... My newer comp has SLI on some 8800's which work much better but I can't swap em out due to this being so old (Old Motherboard). Just as long as I can keep the project goin But the new comp I have to replace the motherboard (It fried out on me)

I have never been able to take screenshots with the OpenGL patch - all I get is mostly a black image with one or two columns of corrupted pixels. But then, I've only ever had the initial release that Alex made for WCP and SO when the OpenGL patch was first released on Standoff. I know the OpenGL mode in Standoff has improved significantly since then, but I was not aware of there being any new releases of the renderer for WCP/SO. Has there been, or am I just misunderstanding everything?

Oh, yeah right. I forgot about that. Alex and I were working on an update of the OpenGL for WCP/SO before the Holidays but it's not done yet, still has some small issues to work with HCl's DVD patch... I guess we should get back to it.

Thanks for the update, Pete. And no hurry, either. I was just worried that something was released without my noticing it. OpenGL patch and DVD movies would be an even greater incentive to replay WCP and SO. (:

You think the Kilrathi ever returned the Excalibur they captured Blair in? Would make a great museum piece or collector's item.

"Hey! I have the Excalibur that killed Kilrah!" (:

That seems logical to me. I mean what purpose would the Kilrathi have for keeping it? It was beaten up, couldn't even fly straight anymore, God only knows how many systems were still functional.

Plus the Kilrathi had at least one fighter that was superior to the Excalibur.

Considering that Victory is a Museum it makes perfect sense

Since Eder sent me the bsp.dll (Which could be found nowhere) I want you guys to know... That I've been able to find out how to implement the collision trees so that I may finally be able to move on with implementing Capships. I'm took me a little while today to figure them out....but once I did the results were pretty right on....Of coarse there's tinkering around todo but...It's definitely...

A Milestone to be able to do this for the project...

God, that Dralthi IX is sexy. Seriously, it's the coolest Wing Commander ship ever.

Good work with the other models too, they fit the Arena setting perfectly. The guns' textures don't always seem to 'fit' their host ship, though, I can't really put my finger on why.

Its definitely an awesome ship... but the coolest? Come on man! The Jrathek always holds a special place in my heart.

No offense Jason! Love you work

Ah, yes, the Jrathek is definitely up there, back when i first flew it in Academy I always though it felt, and looked like a luxury car in space.

Still, there's just something I love about the Strikers 'dangerous' appearance.

What's pretty cool is that in the game engine....The Dralthi Stats aren't exactly super fighter stats, but the Mass Driver/Laser Loadout really can tear it up. It's one of the more exciting ships to fly.

Hey Jason, I was thinking... you have two different versions of the Excal flying around, have you thought of maybe undoing an injustice? I am of course referring to putting the Reaper guns back where they belong and getting rid of that damn ion cannon. At least on maybe the older variant?

Here's the Gun armament for the Wyvern (Updated Excalibur)

4x Tachyon (Retains the original Tachyons, although a lil faster refire rate)
2x Chain Ion MK II (A lil faster Refire rate....packs a lil more of a punch)

When I do the models I test them out... for almost what seems like hours. Just so that I can get it to exactly where I want it...What's great about this gun set up is it packs a punch and your also able to plug away at shields while you wait for the Tachs to refire. (This is essential for battling Devil Rays and Puffers or any other heavier fighters for that matter...etc..) believe me.

The original Excalibur I've armed as follows.....

4x Meson (Less damage than the Ion, but an all around pretty reliable gun)
2x Ion (a Slightly faster refire, but the damage has been increased)

To be honest by just increased the damage by like 10 points and the refire a little bit, Also I changed the sound...(It sounds pretty powerful)...The Ion is definitely back to kickin some A$$. You'll be happy with it.

4 Mesons, theres an odd mix, if I may ask, what made you go with the meson blasters?

Ehh just somethin different.....It seemed that the Meson was brought back during Arena times... because we didn't see it in Prophecy or Secret Ops. I just thought I'd bring it back. So no real reason just thought it would be a lil different...I got rid of the Cloud and the Pulse Particle...and they got replaced with the Meson and the Stormfire MK II

On the Excalibur, Changing it up from the Tachs to Meson....I just did....It actually performs just as well...so it's not a huge change.

I know, we lost a lot of my favs in prophecy. Meson guns, light plasma cannon, Reaper gun (god help us), Photon gun, and even the NEUTRON GUN!

I loved the wc1/2 neutrons but wc3/4 it sucked. I am glad you brought back the meson blaster. The light plasma kicked ass even though it was a major drainer. So I can't wait to see all that in action.

I brought back a lighter Plasma cannon and main reason being is that...The newer Plasma Cannon on the Devastator seemed to be the same thing off the Cerberus...Just in a smaller version. Packing the same big punch and the extremely long reload time.

Well I made the Plasma cannon that is mounted on the Devastator,Longbow, Vaktoth, and Paktahn have less damage and a faster refire rate...and here's the reason why.

I wanted more than just the Devastator to have a Plasma Cannon (Something to punch through capship shields etc..). And not the 1 shot kill fighter but...the same slower speed, slower refire rate, but high damage gun..Similar to what we see in Privateer. Here's actually the stats on the WCCD Plasma which pretty much is a light plasma. (The Cerberus is it's own gun seperate gun file so this doesn't effect that gun "Turreted Plasma Cannon").

Speed: 2000
Range: 5600
Refire Delay (Ms): 600
Energy: 100
Damage: 160

Tell me what ya think.

No this isn't part of the April Fools jokes....But I wanted to give you guys a bunch of really good wallpapers. You'll notice a few familiar ships to the WCCD mod...and a new one..... In Which I'll describe another time. I took off a few weeks from touching anything with MOD and had to get organized with all my files on my comp... It was giving me a total headache for a lil while...But I've been back at it the past few days. Enjoy! These are all 1600x1200 in size so enjoy...

That's cool. We did actually get battlecruiser renders from EA as a CIC birthday gift a few months after Arena came out. Maybe you were aware of that, because they're posed almost exactly the same. Pretty fun to compare them side by side. http://www.wcnews.com/news/update/8091
