Long Live the Confederation!
It looks like Mac isn't the only person working with the Excalibur right now! A DeviantArt user named Euderion has posted a pretty great new render of another take on the ship! You can view the original post here. Be sure and check out their profile, they've done lots of great work in other universes... here's hoping there's more Wing Commander in Euderion's future!

Model tryout. The Excalibur class Starfighter from the Wing Commander Games.

The F-103 Excalibur is a heavy fighter that was first developed in the 2660s during the Kilrathi war. At the time of its introduction in 2669, it was one of the most advanced starfighters in Terran service. It was designed as a space superiority fighter and was fitted with a large and powerful armament designed exclusively for this role. It also could be fitted with a cloaking device for the purpose of high-priority stealth missions. A handful of Excaliburs were sent to the carriership TCS Victory. The Excalibur class is best known for bringing the Earth-Kilrathi War to an end. Ace pilot Christopher Blair flew an Excalibur equipped with an experimental Templor bomb. Colonel Blair and his squadron penetrated the Kilrah System and soon assaulted the planet. Colonel Blair's entire wing was shot down, but the Colonel himself managed to break through the planet's defenses and deploy the T-Bomb, destroying Kilrah and finally ending the Terran-Kilrathi War.

„Excalibur model by Bapman“ - Maybe I am blind, but that model looks 1:1 like the one from Klavs - Or could anyone please tell me the differences? I don’t see them

P.S.: I mean real differences - not just some repairs because Klavs model was buggy
some repairs and minor changes don’t make it „your“ model đŸ€·đŸŒâ€â™‚ïž But please
explain to me why this isn’t Klavs‘ Excalibur

Looks like someone named Bapman uploaded a bunch of Klavs' models to Sketchfab. The original artist probably found this one there and doesn't know the real origin. So a case of the artist doing the right thing and trying to credit the modeler, just having the wrong guy. https://sketchfab.com/Shoib.Rafiq.Bappi

As I've said before it would be good to have a centralized fan works repository the way we have a centralized wiki for official works, both for preservation and attribution. I didn't even know Klavs had a model archive until I was looking through the archive. It's not his only legacy or his most important but it's the one that involves us and it seems to be dissipating on our watch.
