Long Live the Confederation!
You've heard of Origin FX, Origin's 1992 screensaver package that includes several Wing Commander-related modules... but the era of Windows 3.1 is long over, so it's quite possible you've never had a chance to actually use it. Well, great news: the legendary AllTinker, the mind behind W.C.A.T., has created a fully configured package that will let you run Origin FX in DOSBox!

I put together a DOSBox-based way to run the Origin FX Screensaver a while ago because I was curious to see it - I've included the WC2 data for the movies (but not the whole game)... It should work if you just run Origin FX Screensaver.bat, and you can quit by clicking Program Manager and closing it. Audio is all set up and working (virtual Sound Blaster 16).

You can download AllTinker's setup here (16M) and enjoy the program to your heart's delight! If you're interested in learning more, we've got a comprehensive Origin FX section on the WCPedia. It has information on the program and details on all of the Wing Commander-related modules!

(Hey! What's the deal with Origin FX, anyway? How is it related to the 'orchestra' intros see in several early Wing Commander and Ultima games? The answer is that it isn't really; the original Origin FX was the engine that powered the cutscenes in those games. The screensaver package does not use this engine but it is named after it.)
