Does anybody on this board have a switch 2? my wife and I are looking into getting one. mainly because she wants to play some old school games and I think with my current condition it might be easier for me to play games like star fox aka shorter somewhat easier experiences. plus you can still play some very new games, like I was shocked to see the new Indiana Jones game is on that platform and I've been itching to play that.

if any of y'all do have it, what do you think about it as a whole and would you recommend it? Thanks.

I have a Switch 2, thanks to Chris Reid, and I love it. It's my main platform for playing new games these days, it's just so much more comfortable to use a handheld Switch instead of playing on the TV.

Have you tried any of the newer third-party titles like an Indiana Jones or a Resident Evil Etc?? If so do they actually run okay either in handheld mode or dock mode. also how does the oldschool games play? like I said my wife really wants to play regular Mario Brothers aka oldschool nes games, and maybe some sega games.

Everything I've played has been great; they take the ports of new stuff pretty seriously. I haven't played Indiana Jones yet (I want to!) but I have been having a fine time with Star Wars Outlaws which feels just like the Xbox version.

Old stuff works great and better than the original Switch in a lot of cases. I do a lot of those 'pick up and play for five minutes' style games and I've found no lack of them.

I really appreciate the information you're selling it to me. I made a conscious decision just to skip this whole generation cuz to me there was not enough interesting games to me to justify spending $800 for a ps5.

but then I saw the remake of Starfox and that got me interested and the price got me interested aka 450. The mixture of old and new definitely got me interested. I am shocked that games like the new Final Fantasy 7 and Space Marine 2 are supposedly coming to switch 2. I'm just shocked that they could run these type of games. There is a new co-op game called orbital coming out in September that looks right up my alley, if my wife can't play because it is too advanced maybe you could. I think the devs said it has game share.

Either way thank you for all the useful information, this is giving me some hope, that I can still game on at least a small scale with my injuries.

If you like the Switch, the Switch 2 is better. A lot of the games that ran poorly on the Switch run significantly better on the Switch 2. (The problem was memory bandwidth - the Switch was memory speed limited. Various mods helped alleviate the issue).

So far the compatibility of the Switch 2 was excellent.

As for the graphics power - modern smartphones and such have been able to do a lot - it's why Apple's laptops have been able to get up there in terms of graphical performance. Is it as good as a GTX 5090Ti Super? Of course not, but given the costs and what normal users have been able to obtain, mobile GPUs have caught up with the midrange graphics PCs are most likely to be equipped with.

Even if you don't have any interest in any upcoming Switch 2 games, the performance improvement is well worth it. Especially if you get it before the upcoming price hike.

hey loaf when you do play in dock mode how is the controller to use for you, she has small hands I just want to make sure she could play in Dock and in portable. id prob get the pro controller for me. I think we are going to get it because I love the mix of casual games for my wife and the more third-party hardcore games for me, after i hopefully heal, but if I never get better I will be jumping on mushrooms with Mario with
her. I just wish the price points were not so ridiculous. after we did the mock up of just getting a couple games and all the other stuff, the overall price is like $850, which I know welcome to the new economy... but damn.

i did get the switch 2. i am playing ff7 rebirth and having fun. wife and i are playing Luigi mansion 3 together and we are LOVING THAT. such a great game with fun mechanics.

playing Star Fox I absolutely adore this remake. I'm also still playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. I am so glad I got the switch 2. my wife and I are having a lot of fun, we just beat Luigi's Mansion three together.

On the bad side of things, I am going to have to go back to the hospital and have a second surgery on my neck. I have a bone spur that infused with my spine, Doctor can't fully get rid of it, so it is still compressing my spine. they have to take out more of my neck to give the spur more room to move freely without compressing. I knew something was wrong because the coordination in both of my hands has sucked. playing video games is twice as hard as it used to be.
