Oh, another thing I've noticed is that the last couple of seconds of the briefing music seem to sometimes repeat multiple times (indefinitely?) if you let the briefing run through entirely and the music changes to this dramatic crescendo at the very end (which it only sometimes does to begin with).

I think this is different to this bug, which I think I vaguely remember from my earlier playthroughs (which are multiple years ago now)
The Adlib hanging-note bug (hopefully reduced, if not eliminated).

The note doesn't hang, instead it repeats itself.
I've managed to get it on video as well. I aborted there and didn't let it run any further.

Yeah the hanging note bug usually only happens during spaceflight - I think it still happens here and there - where a sound effect gets stuck in a bad state, usually making a horrible static noise. I do want to have another look at that; I know a bit more about how the sound system works than I did on my last attempt to fix it.

Thanks for reporting the other bug, I've never heard it loop like that... I'll see what I can do!

Hello. I have a question:
I download the zip or installer but can't see a folder named GAMEWC2? . Also no batch for the game.
If I make one and put the game files in, WCAT won't recognize the game. It doesn't even look for it when I try to re-verify the game files (only WC, SM1 & 2)

What am I missing?

For Wing Commander 2 you'll want one of the "W.C.A.T. for WC2" releases on Itch. The installer will detect WC2 if you've got it installed from GOG or EA (or Kilrathi Saga) and copy the files automatically. If you're using the zip with DOSBox-Staging for Windows and need to copy files manually, GAMEWC2 is under files.

First I have not had time to play your mod. Sorry! I am curious to know if you have implemented or can implement an auto save after the final WC1 mission? I ask this because you can receive medals in it and since the game does not allow you to save after the last mission you can never transfer your pilot with all the medal you have earned to Secret Mission.
Ideally an auto save after SM 1&2 as well would be nice too and maybe WC2 and SO.

Thanks for all your hard work. I truly look forward to playing it.

It still doesn't save after the last mission, but as a workaround I've used WCSAV to re-add the medals and kills for that mission before transferring.

I've started testing an implementation of exactly this - it'll also mean the launcher can handle the transfer in a smoother fashion too. I also need post-mission stats (for the whole series) for something else which I'm keeping under wraps for now, so it's pretty high priority...

Thanks for all your hard work!
To expand the idea, if you are so interested, could a copy of ALL the Tiger's Claw pilots, missions, and kills be transferred? I realize that this would require a whole new save game transfer.
In my head canon, missions and kills would only be on the aircraft you are stationed on. Thus Missions and kill would only transfer between WC1, SM1, and SM2 and not over to WC2, SO1 or SO2 but WC2 could transfer to SO1&2.

Just a thought.
Thank you for you time.

That's pretty much what I'm doing; it's essentially creating an autosave to its own special-case save file.

Yeah I think I get the logic - I can certainly make that optional; I imagine a lot of folks will want to transfer everything over, but no harm in giving the option.
