Origin FX is a screen saver collection released in 1993 by Origin Systems, the legendary game studio behind Wing Commander, Ultima, Strike Commander, and System Shock. Unlike the standard screen savers of the era, Origin FX brought the worlds of these games to life through animated scenes, artwork, visual effects, and sound.
For example, when Wing Commander II was installed, Origin FX could automatically play the game's cinematic sequences as a screen saver. Similar support was available for Ultima VII: Serpent Isle, using its introduction and ending cinematics.
