Bandit LOAF

Long Live the Confederation!
Privateer 2 is an amazing and complex game but it can be difficult to jump in and find any one thing you're looking for because there are so many complex unlock mechanics hidden in the background. To help the cause of future Privateer 2 researchers we are proud to present the first release of a Privateer 2 saved game archive. The archive linked below includes four sets of Privateer 2 saved games which cover each mission of the main plot and then all fifteen 'cinematic' missions, allowing you to jump in close to just about any FMV sequence in the game.

We've kept the ship and equipment to a minimum through the game. If you want to face these missions with something more reasonable (or more credits or additional technology unlocked), we recommend Lin Kuei Ominae's astounding save game editor for the game. We intend to put together a second release that will have all of the booth missions unlocked and with your ship docked as closely as possible to each one. Stay tuned!

Nice! Quick question: Does Privateer 2 work on Windows 3.11? I may have an old copy somewhere.
Sort of, but it won't be worth it. Privateer 2 is Dos or Win95. If you're running it on a win3.11 system you'll be exiting or running the game in DOS mode regardless of if you launched it in windows.

The one thing that running the game with Windows 3.11 running in the background that you can do to get away with not enough system RAM is use Windows' virtual memmory system to fake the extra ram. However chances are that if you have to do something that drastic your CPU is probably also majorly underperforming as well and the game is going to both take forever to load and run like a slideshow.

Thanks!

Wait, does Privateer 2 run on DOS? I thought it was entirely a Windows game.
The first release was DOS and the deluxe edition was Win95... they also put out an official DOS to WIndows patch for it at the time

It is a pure MS-DOS game .. even back then, on Windows 95, it only ran in DOS mode. And on Windows 98, it didn't run at all. At least, that was my experience. 😊The Deluxe version came out a few months later .. and that, in turn, ran only on Windows.
