Long Live the Confederation!
Wing Commander fans love making maps… and we're no exception! I thought it would be fun to go through Wing Commander Academy and create a little 'atlas' showing all the systems and their features (planets, moons, jump points and so on) that we visit across the run of the show. And it was fun!

Intro: The show's introduction is a mix of new clips and stock ones from the show which are arranged to imply a little story (the pilots scrambling to fight off a Kilrathi attack). That story opens with an asteroid field.

Red and Blue: The first episode takes place on Sirius Prime (per the Confederation Handbook). The map seen in the command center seems to suggest the planet has six moons and is located near a small nebula (this is not how nebulae actually work). The Kilrathi blockade runner is hidden in said nebula, which also contains an asteroid field.

We also see a simulated planet and asteroid in the Academy's computer program.

The Last One Left: Per dialogue, this episode takes place in the M421A system. The briefing map shows six bodies: a red planet with purple rings, three brown planets, one red one and one blue one. Tolwyn points to another display showing the ringed planet, the blue one and the red one when he says he's sending three wings to scout the planets and the moons. The Tiger's Claw arrives through a jump node. Both Kilrathi transports are ambushed near the blue gas giant. Tortuga is the name of the pirate moon which orbits the blue gas giant.

The Most Delicate Instrument: The system is not named but Tolwyn describes it as a planet-less binary star system with an asteroid field during the briefing.

Lords of the Sky: The briefing says that Dioscuri-2 is the second planet orbiting a "G type star". The map seems to show seven planets. Dioscuri-2 has two moons, labeled S1 and S2 onn the chart. The Tiger's Claw arrives via jump node. There is also an additional map which shows other star systems which we will profile in a future update.

Word of Honor: According to the press kit, the planet in Word of Honor is named Pisces. We also see the system's star during the dogfight.

We also flash back to Repleetah, an established Wing Commander location.

Expendable: Expendable covers two star systems. In Chain of Command we learn that the one the episode starts in is named Seti Beta. We see the system's pulsar, jump point and pulsar jump node.

The pulsar jump node in Seti Beta leads Blair and Payback to an unknown Kilrathi system. There we see the opposite pulsar and its jump node as well as a single shot of what looks to be a distant galaxy or a black hole. It's possible this was an overly stylized take on the pulsar but it seemed important to include!

We also flash back to the Icarus Colony, which has a visible moon.

Chain of Command: Chain of Command takes place in the Seti Beta system. We see the pulsar, the Confederation jump node, the pulsar jump node, Seti Beta I and its moon. Tolwyn's display shows two bodies (Seti Beta I and moon) in most shots but in one a second moon is visible. it is also not clear if the planet hiding the Kilrathi fleet is Seti Beta I or somewhere else. We also see a distant "red planet" in the final sequence which may be intended to represent the pulsar.

Walking Wounded: The system in Walking Wounded is not named; we do see the star.

Walking Wounded also shows us a simulated mission on the Tiger's Claw which features an asteroid field.

Invisible Enemy: The system in Invisible Enemy is not named and we do not see any distinct features.

Recreation: Recreation takes place in the Oasis system. We see the star and two moons. Tolwyn's briefing seems to show a total of five planets in the system.

On Both Your Houses: Tolwyn says that Greenhouse is the second planet in the system. It has a moon visible in the briefing map. The map seems to show eight other planets, with two of tese being outer planets represented by dark circles.

Price of Victory: This episode seems to take place in a very large star system; Tolwyn's star chart shows 17 total planets. During the story we see the ice planet and its moon at the start and then the temperate planet and its moon in the conclusion. The temperate planet seems to have a distinctly different moon visible in one shot, though this could be an error.

Glory of Sivar: Glory of Sivar takes place in the Dolos System. We see the planet Dolos and a jump node. A planet is visible near the node as the story starts but it feels like this is also meant to be Dolos in the distance.
