Well , I was scrolling to some Transformers G1 List and I found a lot of similarities with WingCommander 1 Ships .
Transformers predate Wing Commander , but I am curious if Origin took some ideas from these designs .

I could definitely see the Krant! It wasn't super common to have adult fans of the Transformers in 1990, though... it's one of those things that grew up with the audience. It's more likely that Wing Commander's ships and these guys had a shared ancestor in late 70s anime.

There's also only like three types of spaceships in all of science fiction: Caterpillar in space, Concorde in space and weird alien shit, so I think designs will inevitably show up again organically every few decades or so.

Plus many space fighters are inspired by real life jet fighters, so similarities are inevitable.

Now that I think about it, there is an OTIMUS system in Wing Commander Armada...

While looking at an old directory, I found these transformers, all different paint schemes of the same robot which looks somewhat Scimitar-ish.
