Long Live the Confederation!
We may not be able to prevent sickness, death, horror, war, etc. anymore... but we sure can make a useful robot for removing copyrighted material from YouTube. And the one Universal Studios uses to go after Wing Commander Academy material on YouTube seems to be top notch! It has removed all evidence of the Arabic dub's theme song... so we've posted a copy locally for you to enjoy:

A translation of the lyrics for the Arabic theme:

Fly Soar
Like an eagle
Growl Roar.. Decimate evil
Fly Soar
You are the toughest
Quenched your thirst from the fountain of courage
The enemy of virtue ..a bully
Tyrannical catastrophic malicious unjustly
Clear sky is now bloody
Maneuver aim
Incinerate the enemy
Roar Growl
So our sky is clear again
Fly

Meanwhile, Universal's brilliant technology also managed to prevent Americans from seeing the promotional copy of the Wing Commander Academy in HD (read: not in HD) that VEI posted to their channel to promote the DVD release. You know, the DVD they paid for... but no one seems to have cared to correct this, so here's a copy preserved for posterity!

Google bots are just something else. I know of artists that have gotten their own channel deleted by automated copyright strikes. There was also an aviation channel that got demonitized because google robots decided Chuck Yeager was a racial slur.

Definitely. Though in youtube's case it's still a bit of a crapshoot for whatever reason.

When it comes to copyright strikes I think it has something to do with the DMCA and their safe harbor status, it's probably better for them to err on the side of caution even if it screws over the userbase.

Outside of that I have no idea, the Chuck Yeager thing I mentioned above basically ended with them going 'Eh, our robot was probably right' when the channel tried to fight it, so they either didn't check or didn't care enough to do something about it.
