Farbourne

Rear Admiral
Quite a few years ago, it must have been, I found this really cool Wing Commander artwork and saved a copy, possibly even from this site. My computer just randomly picked it for my desktop background. I'd forgotten all about it, and don't know who created it or even what ship is it supposed to be. The Concordia? The Gettysburg? (The supercruiser, not the Waterloo-class). Probably not, as those seem to be Sabres flying off her. I think that's a phase transit cannon under the bow, but she looks a bit long and slender to be a Confederation class.

Anyone know?

In any case, it's really cool art.

That makes sense. Especially because “ninjala” is embedded in the filename! Sorry. Should have looked more carefully.

Well, shout out to Klavs and NinjaLA! Awesome artwork!

My guess would be an artistic rendition (with some license) of the Concordia or another Confederation-class ship.

It gets worse because some of his work is just gone.

The Tarsus is lost.

The corvette is lost.

The Concordia model itself would have been lost, but fortunately Klavs gave a copy to Mac, who gave it to the CIC for preservation. Though it doesn't have textures for some reason, so that's gone as well.

Although the Tarawa was in the model pack he released, the unique texture he created for it wasn't, and we would have lost that as well if a (low-res) version hadn't been included in the Homeworld 2 mod.

We don't have the texture he made for his Fralthi model at all.

His website has been taken down and if any of the models were on his Shapeways, we'll never know because that site only survived him by a few months.

We really, really need to have some sort of backup archive. Even if it's not publically available, it should be stored somewhere, the same way the CIC stores game development information.

Does anyone have his widow's contact info, or know what company he worked for? I know he was a fellow Aero-Engr, that might be a vector to recover those designs.
